Storyboard Text

  • Introduction
  • I have read two short stories by Edger Allen Poe, one called 'The Tell Tale Heart' and the other is "The Cast of Amontillado". The Tell Tale Heart is about a Narrator who was insane and killed an old man he dearly loved because of his eye. The other story The Cast of Amontillado is about a man who's friend insulted him and he was so angry he decided to reap revenge. So he carefully planed to bared him alive in the catacombs.
  • Claim
  • Text Evidince
  • "The thousand of injuries of Fortunato I had born as best I could, but when he ventured upon insult I vowed revenge"(1).
  • Analysis
  • This shows how the Narrator had a right to be angry at Fortunato. The text tells us he was beaten and insulted by Fortunato. It was no wonder that he wanted to get revenge on what has been done on him. Yet unlike in The Tell Tale Heart where the Narrator killed the man because of his insanity and hatred to the old mans eye. So it was unfair of the old man to die whale Fortunato there was more of a reason.
  • Even though both stories had murder and revenge, The Cast of Amontillado revenge is most justified.
  • Counter Claim
  • His revenge is most justified because Fortunato had done harm to him unlike in The Tell Tale Heart where the old man had not done anything to the Narrator.
  • Ending
  • Even though it was cruel to barry him alive and Fortunato thinking he was his friend. His death was more justified because he had valid reason, he was getting bullied, and unlike in The Tell Tale Heart the Narrator was insane.
  • It was not wonder that he wanted to get revenge on Fortunato because he was beaten and insulted by a "friend".
  • The End
