Storyboard Text

  • Hey guys, let's see who is up for taking a dare!
  • Jacob, I dare you to run a lap around the playground while saying "I stink at soccer."
  • I don't want to do a dare. But if I don't, he might not be friends with me any more. But if I do, and I run around the field everyone will think I'm bad at soccer. I won't give in to peer pressure and do something I am not comfortable doing. If people are my real friends, then they will still like me even if I don't give in.
  • PEER PRESSURE When a friend or peer tries to influence another.
  • No. I don't want to do that!
  • So, what do you say- yes or no?
  • In this example of peer pressure, Shawn is daring Jacob, and Jacob must make a decision.
  • We still good?
  • Yes! Of course.
  • In D.A.R.E. we learn to make safe and responsible choices and resistance strategies for responding to peer pressure.
  • Today I used D.A.R.E.'s techniques and it worked! I got out of a dare and kept a friend. Puzzle Solved!
  • RESPOND Say "NO" when you are not comfortable in a situation. Feel confident that your friend is a real friend and will respect your decision, if not then maybe it isn't a real friend.
  • EVALUATE I know I made the right choice. Then I check with my friend to see if we can just move on.
  • D.A.R.E. SUCCESS!
