  • In the story "The Cast of Amontillado" by Edgar Allen Poe, Montresor wanted to get revenge on Fortunado because Fortunado had insulted Montresors family.

  • Montresor revenge was not justified.
  • Analysis
  • He didn't have to kill him but he could've punished him differently.
  • Conclusion
  • "No one insults me without punishment."
  • This shows that Montresor was hinting something to Fortunado that he was going to punish him because he insulted him but he killed him. He didn't have to kill him he could've just done something not as violent.
  • Montresor didn't have to kill Fortunado, he should be punished for that, but since it's in the basement.
