  • PROBLEM: JESS WANTS TO BE THE FASTEST RUNNER IN FIFTH GRADE, BUT THE SPOTLIGHT HAD BEEN TAKEN BY LESLIE BURKE.
  • PROBLEM/ RESOLUTION
  • RESOLUTION: JESS ACCEPTS THAT LESLIE IS FASTER THAN HIM, BUT THEN LESLIE ACCIDENTALLY DIED IN THE CREEK, LEAVING THE SPOTLIGHT OPEN FOR COMPETITORS.
  • SUMMARY
  • JESSE OLIVER AARONS JR WANTED TO BE THE FASTEST KID IN FIFTH GRADE, SO HE WOKE UP EARLY EVERY MORNING FOR ALL OF THE SUMMER. BUT THEN, A NEW GIRL NAMED LESLIE BURKE MOVED IN A WEEK BEFORE SCHOOL BEGAN. THEN AT SCHOOL, JESS REALIZED THAT LESLIE WAS IN HIS CLASS. THEIR TEACHER, MRS .MYERS ANNOUNCED IT WAS RECESS TIME. LESLIE BLEW ALL THE COMPETITORS, INCLUDING JESSE.
  • SUMMARY PART II
  • ONE RAINY DAY, JESSE GOT A PHONE CALL FROM HIS MUSIC TEACHER, MRS. EDMUNDS SAYING THAT IF JESSE WANTED TO COME TO WASHINGTON D.C. WITH HER. JESSE COULDN'T REFUSE. THEY WENT TO THE NATIONAL GALLERY AND AN ART MUSEUM. AFTER THAT, THEY WENT TO HAVE LUNCH. WHEN JESSE RETURNED HOME, HE SAW HIS FAMILY SOBBING. IT TURNS OUT THAT LESLIE HAD ACCIDENTALLY DIED IN THE CREEK. JESS REALIZED THAT HE WAS THE FASTEST RUNNER IN FIFTH GRADE.

  • SO WHEN LESLIE INVITED JESSE OVER TO HER HOUSE, BILL AND JUDY[ LESLIE'S PARENTS] HAD PAINTED ONE OF THEIR ROOMS GOLD, SO JESSE AND LESLIE NICKNAMED THE ROOM '' THE GOLDEN ROOM'' AFTER THEIR KINGDOM OF TERABITHIA. JESSE WAS THE KING AND LESLIE WAS THE QUEEEN.
