The United States gained its independence on July 4, 1776.
It was signed at Independence Hall in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania by the Continental Congress.
There were 56 delegates who signed the Declaration of Independence. John Adams, John Livingston, and Benjamin Franklin were included. But Thomas Jefferson is said to be the primary drafter.
The document declared independence from Great Britain and demanded the colonies to be free from the king.
"We want liberty!"
"We want rights!"
"We want FREEDOM!"
With the signing of the Declaration of Independence, America escaped from the powers of Britain, gained freedom to build their own nation, and established this great country we live in.
