Hans had a fantasy about 2 giraffes, one big one and another crumpled one, and the big one called out because Hans took the cramped one away from it. Hans then sat down on the crumpled one and the big one stopped calling out. The boy's father and mother were the 2 giraffes. Freud informed Hans that he was afraid of his father because he nourished jealous and hostile feelings towards him.
Hans recalled the event that immediately preceded the outbreak of the illness. He had gone for a walk with his mother, and saw a bus horse fall down and kick about with its feet. His father suggested that Hans saw the horse and wished that his father would fall down dead. Hans did not dispute this.
Hans had several other fantasies, including being fitted with a larger penis by a plumber and being married to his mother with children. Shortly after this his illness and the analysis came to an appropriate end.
