The driver of the car made a mistake and took a wrong turn. He stopped the car and began to reverse.
The assassin named Princip had been walking outside of a cafe when he spotted the car of the Archduke. Instantly, he pulled his gun out and fired two shots: the first hitting Franz Ferdinand in his neck and the second hitting his wife's stomach.
Princip was seized immediately. He tried to drink his poison, but it did not work. He was taken to prison, where he later died aged twenty-three in 1918. Princip later regretted his choice of firing those two bullets which lead to the first world war.
