  • In the past, women had many restrictions. They were not allowed to go out on their own or after dark, play sports, vote, and were discouraged to go to university/college.
  • Come back here! You're not allowed to go out!
  • The VON was a organization of unmarried and young visiting nurses.The VON has helped Canada through many incidents including WW1 and WW2. The VON also proved that women could be doctors as well as men.
  • Victorian Order of Nurses
  • Women were not allowed to play sports because they were considered "violent" and "unladylike" but in around the 1915-1920s they finally got the right to be able to play most sports.
  • Sports
  • The powerful Women's Christian Temperance Union pushed for better working conditions for women and the ban of alcohol in society. Women realized they needed to gain political influence to achieve their ends; They wanted the right to vote. Nellie McClung emerged as a key leader of the women's rights movement. She used her wit and eloquence to battle deeply embedded views on a woman's place in society.
