Storyboard Text

  • Tom hung Jim's hat on a tree while he was sleeping, and "afterwards Jim said the witches bewitched him and put him in a trance, and rode him all over the state."
  • This portrays realism by showing that most whites at the time saw African Americans as imprudent. The book shows that Huck was poking at him for being African American.
  • Tom, just being a kid, decided to mess with Jim and "afterwards Jim said the witches bewitched him and put him in a trance, and rode him all over the state."
  • This relates to realism because kids were unsophisticated and that is still true in present day. This isn't racism, it's more kids being naive.
  • Believing that because he was white he could do anything to Jim, Tom decided to mess with him and "afterwards Jim said the witches bewitched him and put him in a trance, and rode him all over the state."
  • The critical race theory states that racial problems are different in depending perspective. The book puts as a casual thing, though the realism did not give it total justice according to critical race theory.
