Storyboard Text

  • Philosophical Ideas
  • That's what you get for going against us and having books.
  • Conformity
  • But we don't want to be the same! We want to be unique!
  • We are all the same because society told us to be this way!
  • Illusion of a Perfect Society
  • The philosophical idea of this book is that books are terrible and shouldn't exist. Many people decided to just agree with this idea to make their lives easier.
  • Technology
  • Mostly everyone in "Fahrenheit 451' conformed to the social norm. When people decided to stop conforming by reading books, they were generally killed or their houses were burnt down.
  • Government
  • In "Fahrenheit 451" people were mostly oblivious to the world around them (all of the deaths and book burning's). It made the society seem a lot better than it was when people just remained ignorant.
  • Oppressive Society
  • The technology caused many people to become detached from their real families. These electronics also cost a ton of money, so it deprived people of not only their social life, but also all of their money.
  • In this book, firemen are worshiped like gods. These men are the main form of government, so they create laws and enforce them. They are controlling everyone's actions (by not letting them read) and use cruel forms of punishment.
  • In "Fahrenheit 451" society is deprived of their right to knowledge. Some of the people were English teachers who have since retired, This causes conflict because all intellectuals want to do is gain knowledge by reading, but everyone is telling them they can't.
