  • The main character name is August he doesn't look like an average kid."My name is August, by the way.I won't describe what I look like.Whatever you're thinking it's probably worse" (Palaico 3).This gives a big description on how August thinks about himself and how his face looks to other people himself as.They see him as a ordinary kid.
  • August knows from experience that he doesn't look like an average kid."Like its okay i know i'm weird-looking,take a look" (Palaico 62).This explains that he knows that his face is different than others.
  • People see him not as an ordinary person and this makes August upset.His parents don't see him as orandary."They see me extraordinary" (Palaico 3).This explains that even though when people dont expect him they way he looks.His parents makes him feel better by saying this.
  • WOO! YAY AUGUST!!
  • August was worried about going to school and didn't want to go to school because of how his face looks like."She said soft words what I know were meant to help me, but words can't change my face" (Palaico 60).This explains that because Augusts face looks different he thinks everyone is going to make fun of him.
  • August was getting more excited about school because he found out that there we field trips.He could not wait until the end of the year to go on the field trips."On the other hand,i'm really excited" (Palaico 251).This explains that August wants to go to school more because of this reward.
  • At the end of the year August had so much more confidence in him then the beginning of the year."Little taller,A little stronger, a little smarter" (Palaico 299).This explains that August has grown more through out the year.
