Hi There! I'm here to teach you about how trade all started in Canada
It all started with Christopher Columbus officially discovering North America in 1492.
The french and English came over on ships and traded the first nations for fur and food.
1756-1763 brought a war between the French and English. Once the English won Canada increased trade with them.
In 1776 the U.S declared it's independence from Britain.
1945-1950 Canada began trading with Japan which boosted both economies.
1993 brought the signing of NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement) which started trade between Canada and Mexico
In 2008, Canada signed a free trade agreement with Israel. Now in 2016 Canada has 20 major trading partners.
