  • Hi There! I'm here to teach you about how trade all started in Canada
  • It all started with Christopher Columbus officially discovering North America in 1492.
  • The french and English came over on ships and traded the first nations for fur and food.
  • 1756-1763 brought a war between the French and English. Once the English won Canada increased trade with them.
  • In 1776 the U.S declared it's independence from Britain.
  • 1945-1950 Canada began trading with Japan which boosted both economies.
  • 1993 brought the signing of NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement) which started trade between Canada and Mexico
  • In 2008, Canada signed a free trade agreement with Israel. Now in 2016 Canada has 20 major trading partners.
