  • This was midnight in bleak December. The narrator was reading a book, nearly sleeping, then someone came and knocked on the door.
  • Falling Action
  • NEVERMORE
  • The narrator redeemed his stability, and went to see what was at his chamber door. When he opened it, nothing was there.
  • Resolution
  • The raven sat above his chamber door and told the narrator that he would see Lenore nevermore. He started to rage and get angry.
  • Literary Element
  • The narrator wanted to bird to go back into the night from which he came. The raven said, "Nevermore".
  • The raven stayed above his chamber door with a sense of menace in his eyes.
  • In the story, an example of an allusion was used. The allusion said, "Swung by Seraphim whose footfalls tinkled on the tufted floor." Seraphim is in reference to the top angel.
