  • Hubris
  • Hello, I am your awesome king Oedipus. I don't believe that the gods are correct in their prophecies. I will defy mine because I am awesome.
  • Peripeteia
  • I am Creon here to tell you that you killed your father. The Gods told me this.
  • Oedipus' hamartia is his anger/ temper. He accidentally kills his father at the crossroads because he is angry that he has a prophecy. In this scene he just killed his father which is a situation that happened from his hamartia.
  • Anagnorisis
  • I am sorry sir, but you did kill your father!
  • Oedius shows his hubris nature when he tries to defy his prophecies. He thinks that he is better than the gods and that he can defy his prophecy.
  • Nemesis
  • I am sorry for all the trouble that I have caused. I will leave this place and never return. Creon, you are the new king.
  • Oedipus's peripeteia is when it is revieled that he kiled his father even if he doesnt know it yet. Oedipus was trying to find who killed the king when it turns out that he himself killed his father.
  • Catharsis
  • I am the king now!
  • Oedipus' anagnorisis is when he learns that he did kill his father.
  • Oedipus' nemesis is his banishment when he realizes that he did kill his father, completed the prophecy, and had to live up to his word and banish himself.
  • We feel cathardic when Oedipus is banished because he is the main character and the king of the land. Now we don't know what will happen to the kingdom and Oedipus.
