Storyboard Text

  • There is a legend about this mountain once told by the mountain itself.
  • I'm ready! I know I'm ready!
  • Sorry son. You're not ready. You are just too young and too small.
  • McNabb, one of the caretakers, told the young campers the story about Muskawashee. Muskawashee was a young boy that died trying to climb up to an eagles nest.
  • Ralph: You're chicken, you couldn't climb the mountain even if you tried. Jason: I am not chicken! It just isn't time yet. Ralph: You're chicken. Counselor: Go to sleep! Ralph: Cluck! Cluck! Cluck!
  • The story that McNabb told went something like this, "Long ago a young Cree boy tried to climb up to an eagles nest, which was somewhere among the many cliffs, to become a warrior. He thought he was ready, but his dad thought otherwise.
  • I dare you to climb up that mountain to that cliff over there. Scared? You're chicken! If your not chicken then climb to that cliff over there.
  • The Next Day....
  • Muskawashee being so stubborn, one morning before dawn he sneaked out of his family's teepee and set off on foot towards the mountain.
  • I'm not doing it. It's just not my time yet. I'm not chicken! Fine, I will.
  • It took most of the day or him to reach the mountain. The next morning, he set out to find an eagle and seek vision from the mighty bird, a that was the first step to becoming a warrior. As he was climbing he rock cliffs to get to the nest, he fell to his death, releasing a terrible cry that echoed from the mountain far out across the land. The legend says the boy's spirit still wanders the mountain today."
  • After the story, everybody went back to their tents. Ralph was telling Jason to climb the mountain because he is Cree. They think that because Jason is Cree, he should climb the mountain to become a warrior.
  • Ralph was giving Jason a hard time about climbing the mountain. Finally Jason said he will climb it just t make Ralph stop.
