  • The Origin of MEDUSA
  • Medusa was one of the most beautiful women in Greece. She worshiped the goddess Athena and thus, was chaste. However, all the men wanted her.
  • Poseidon didn't care that she was a virgin and raped her in Athena's temple. This made Athena very mad.
  • Cursed by Athena, Medusa grew snakes instead of hair, and became a Gorgon (death monster). Any person she saw would be turned to stone!
  • Living alone on an island, she soon became surrounded by the bodies (or statues) of failed heroes.
  • Perseus finally defeats Medusa by using a shield to deflect her gaze.
