  • Phase 2 of the War of 1812 Bombardment of Fort McHenry
  • Britain thought they needed more help attacking so they became allies with the Native Americans. They told the Native American chief Tecumseh, that they needed them to fight with them against America. The Native Americans agreed and were led by Tecumseh. This is another cause of the War of 1812.
  • Phase 3 of the War of 1812 Battle of New Orleans
  • The first two years of the war against Britain were mostly fought by the U.S. Navy. A man named Oliver Hazard Perry took command of the navy in Lake Eerie. His navy fought against the British for a while until Perry's ship sunk. He managed to get aboard another one of his ships and attack all the rest of the British ships. From there, the British fled to Canada where Harrison followed and finished them off in the Battle of Thames. Here, Tecumseh was shot and the Native American resistance ended.

A man names Francis Scott Key watched the Americans stop a British invasion at the bombardment of Fort McHenry in Baltimore. While watching, he wrote the "Star Spangled Banner."

  • In a last attempt of victory, the British took attack at New Orleans to cut of the main trade and transportation resource of America, the Mississippi River. In defense, President Madison sent Andrew Jackson to help command the armed forces, which actually occurred after the war had ended.
  • To finalize the end of the War of 1812, in 1814, the U.S and Britain signed the Treaty of Ghent causing no changes, but peace between the two. An effect of the war was the patriotism spreading throughout America. Americans were more than proud of their country and their win against Britain. This victory showed America to be very powerful. The biggest effect of the war was the big boom of industry and manufacturing that grew in America.
