  • Ancient Indians made their civilization along the Indus river. The river provided them with food, water, irrigation for crops and trade routes. The HIndu Kush Mountains provided protection as did the river, surrounding deserts and seas. The deserts and mountains made this a arid and dry region.
  • The Indians had two story houses, and the great bath. This was useful since they were in the Middle East. They interacted with their environment by growing crops
  • I shall trade cotton for barley.

  • The two main cities were called Harappa (Left) and Mohenjo Daro (Right) and were located on the Indian subcontinent. They got around by horse and boat to trade or to travel.
  • The Caste system was a system based on each citizens jobs. The Brahmans were priests and religious leaders. The Kshatriyas were Kings, chieftains and warriors. The Vaisyas were farmers, landowners etc. The Sudras were unskilled workers.

  • The Dalits were considered untouchables and did all of the dirty work. The priest reads the Vedas which is written in Sanskrit which we can not read.

  • The Ancient Indians had seasonal monsoons making the river flood so the needed to gather their crops. The monsoons were seasonal rains that water the crops.
