House on Mango Street
Birth Certificate Esperanza
In the vignette The house on Mango Street Esperanza explains the house that she lives in and her past. "They always told us that one day we would move into a house, a real house that would be ours for always so we wouldn't have to move each year." This is an example of imagery. Because it explained a house that they wanted very detailed so i saw it in my head.
In the vignette "Hairs" Esperanza explains how her mom has different hair. " But my mother's hair, like rosettes, like little candy circles all curly and pretty." This is an example of a simile because it has the word like in it.
In the vignette "My Name" Esperanza talks about how she doesn't like her name. "I would like to baptize myself under a new name, a name more like the real me, the one no one sees." This is an example of assonance because she doesn't mean to litterlay baptize herself.
