  • John Procter is a tragic hero because he ultimately ends up making the greatest sacrifice and dying because of it just to get the truth of Salem across to the blind townsfolk and judges. He was hung in public along with Rebecca Nurse (left) and Martha Corey (right).
  • Peripatia
  • John Proctor's tragic flaw was his lust for Abigail Williams. He had been in an affair with her and him confessing led to his death.
  • Anagnorisis
  • John's hamatia led to his downfall as well. this was his disastrous error for lechery with Abigail. he confesses to this in court.
  • Catharsis
  • The moment when John realizes that nothing is going for better and he knows that Abigail is up to all oft this no good: he decided he has to intervene by confessing his flaw. This too happiness in court during the trials.
  • This happens when Proctor has to sign the paper saying the Martha and Nurse are witches are must die. but he refuses and starts questioning about what will happen to his good name if he doesn't confess an go along to be hung with them.
  • The emotion felt by the crowd for Proctor was one of pity. they felt bad for him, they felt that none of this had to really happen.
