Giles Corey is a home who accidentally accuses his wife of witchcraft. When she is taken he goes to the court and is comfortable doing so since he has been to court thirty-three times in his life. In court he states that he heard Mr. Putnam tell his daughter Ruth to accuse George Jacobs in order to buy his land. He also states that he knows a man who can confirm it as well. When asked to tell the name of the man he refuses and the court holds him in contempt .
Rebecca Nurse is a well respected member of society in Salem. She doesn't believe that there is witchcraft present and did not like the idea of Mr. Hale coming to town. She is eventually ACCUSED of witchcraft by Ann Putnam because she believes that she is responsible for the deaths of her children. Rebecca being arrested doesn't really sit well with the people of Salem.
Thomas Putnam is a landowner who is always fighting with people over land. During the story he is an ACCUSER in order to gain more land for his family. He acquires George Jacobs' land after he has his daughter tell the court that Jacobs is a witch. He is disliked by Proctor and his friends and is seen as someone who is not to be trusted.
