  • You must first visit the ghost of Tiresias.
  • Please release my friends!
  • Odysseus arrives on the island of Aeolus, the wind king. Aeolus gives Odysseus a good wind and a bag holding all the unfavorable winds. The men open the bag and it releases all of the winds which sends them back to Aeolus.
  • Book 12: The Sirens; Scylla and Charybdis
  • This is what will hinder your path to Ithaca...
  • The group arrives in the island of the laestrygones, cannibals, who attacked the group with boulders.

  • I shall take six of your men. One for each of my heads.
  • The men arrive on Circe's island. One group of men who were sent to explore were put in a trance by Circe. Odysseus with the help of Hermes begs Circe to return his friends. She says he must first go and hear a prophecy from the ghost of Tiresias.

  • Circe warns Odysseus of all the obstacles he and his men will face.
  • Thank you, Circe.
  • Odysseus and his men pass through the sirens with beeswax in their ears. They soon meet Scylla and Charybdis. They see Charybdis and they're attacked by Scylla who takes six of Odysseus' men.

  • Odysseus and his men arrive on Helios' island. Odysseus warns them not to eat the cattle on the island but they ignore him and eat the cattle. This leads to their death at the hands of Zeus.
