El Cristo Rey
Victor goes to EL Cristo Rey when he is told that the corn prices had fallen again. He goes up the mountain to pray, there he meets a priest that gives him bus money. Victor takes this as a sign to go to El Norte. This stop in Victor's journey is important because it shows how thoughtful Victor is when it comes to making decisions. Also, this shows how his religion will play an important part in the decisions he makes.
After meeting Julio in Maztlan, Victor continues his journey on into the city of Nogales. There he learns a lot about the methods of crossing the border, like that the tunnels are closed off and only opened when there is a flood. Also, he learns about the drug mules and how people recruit Mexican children. This is also, where Victor finds Miguel for the second time.

In the mountains Victor begins to travel with Miguel. This top in Victor's journey actually shows how much he has changed from the beginning of the story. Also, in this stop it shows that Victor might actually have a chance of completing his promise. Also, this stop shows how much of an influence an Miguel had on Victor.
After, leaving Sasabe with Rico and becoming a drug mule Victor and Rico end up in the Baboquivari Mountains, after leaving the group of drug mules. While climbing the mountain Victor and Rico realize that Jarra is chasing them with the intent to kill Victor and Rico. This event and stop is important to Victor's journey because, in this stop it shows that Rico isn't really the leader of the duo, Victor is. Evidence to show this is when Jarra was climbing the mountain with his shotgun, Rico was full blown panicking, while Victor was calm and precise with his decisions.
After reaching the abandoned farm and meeting Dave Hansen, Victor and Rico travel to Tuscon, Arizona to try to find Rico's brother Reynaldo. This stop is important because, this stop is where Victor almost reaches his destination to find La Perra Flaca and he almost finds work to save his family from poverty. Also, this is where Victor's journey also takes a step back, because Victor was kind of hoping of finding work with Rico's brother but, not to much. Also, this is when Victor goes to La Perra Flaca and finds work in Washington.
Dayton, Washington is one o the most important stops because this is when and where Victor finally fulfills his promise to his family to send money back. While this stop has some happy times this stop is also sad, Rico, Victor's best friend leaves to go back to his family. As, Rico goes on to ride the bus, he promises to stop at Victor's house to tell his mom that Victor sent a lot of money home. Also, this is where the story ends.
