  • If you keep it, don't blame me for what happens. Pitch it on the fire like a sensible man.
  • Rising Action
  • It moved, as I wished, it twisted in my hand like a snake!
  • I wish my son alive again.
  • During a cold, wet and rainy night, at a bog in the middle of nowhere a son (Herbert White) and his father (Mr. White) were playing a game of chess, and the wife of Mr. White was knitting by the fire.
  • Climax
  • It's Herbert!
  • An old friend of Mr. White called Sargent-Major Morris visits the household, and brings a mysterious thing called The Monkey's Paw. Mrs. White was very interested so the Sargent told all of them what it does and how he got it.
  • Falling Action
  • Mr. White Wishes for 200 pounds to pay off the house, he did not want anything else. Their son leaves for work, and a man later on was standing in front of the White house, to tell them sad news that their son died. They wish their son back later the week with the monkey's Paw. Mr. White hesitates because he is afraid.
  • Resolution
  • As Mrs. White is unlocking door, Mr. White makes the 3rd wish.
  • For God's sake don't let it in!
  • Knocking stops... Mrs. White opens the door.
  • Mrs. White goes outside and sees nothing and no one.
