The Aryans were originally from the area around the Caspian Sea in Central Asia. The Aryans migrated in about 1500 B.C. and arrived in 2000 B.C. They crossed the Hindu Kush mountains and moved farther east toward the Ganges River Valley. Overtime, they became the dominate group in India.
At first, Aryan settlers did not read or write and they had to memorize any important works. These important works were written in Sanskrit, or the most important language in ancient India. After only being a spoken language, Sanskrit became a writen language as well. This helped them to keep important records. Three epic stories, besides Vedas, are the Mahabharata, the Ramayana, and the Upanishads. The Mahabharata is the book that I am holding in my hand right now.
The Religion of the Aryans was very complex. Their religion was of Hinduism, one of the most practiced religions in India today. They believed in many gods such as Indra;god of war, Agni;god of fire, and Usha;goddess of the morning. The Aryans believed that these deities had complete control over their lives. Due to this thinking, the priests performed many elaborate ceremonies to help please and gain the favor of these gods and goddesses. goodbye, or rather, phir milenge. Ok, everyone.
