The little orphan went from person to person on the street trying to get anyone to buy her matches but no one bought any.
When night came the girl found an alleyway to get out of the cold. There in desperation, she started lighting her matches for warmth.
With each match she lit, she could see her grandmother who had died ages ago. She saw delicious food and presents and felt warm like she was sitting in front of a roaring fireplace.
Girl freezes to death in alleyway. Be sure to bundle up and dress in layers if staying out after dark.
But it all disappeared when the flames were extinguished and she was left again in the alleyway in the freezing cold.
Chasing her grandmother, the food, and the presents, the girl lit all her matches. Once the flames extinguished, the little girl died from the cold.
The next morning the girl's body was found and removed from the alleyway. The news used her as an example to remind others to stay bundled up during the cold weather.
