  • Jacobin club was a very famous club of that time and the head of this club is Maximilian Robespierre.
  • Good question. This great club is named after the the St.Jacob convent in Paris.
  • Is that so. Why is this club called the Jacobin club?
  • Jacobin was a large group. They started wearing their own costumes and promoted every thing they wanted.
  • The members of the Jacobin club belonged to the lower group of the societies.
  • By just making this club how could the people raise a voice against the government.
  • The Jacobin club members wore a long colored strip pants and red caps which signifies liberty.
  • In the summer of 1792 the Jacobin along with others revolted against the king and then the complete royal family was imprisoned
  • What happened next?
  • What was their next step.
  • Then elections were held and this time all men of 21 years and above were given the right to vote.
  • They were not given the right to vote.
  • What about the women?
  • The new assembly was called CONVENTION. The Jacobin were ruling France now.
  • Yes, there was no more hereditary monarchy. On 21st September,1792 they became republic.
  • Were now the French republic?
  • What happened to the royal famly.
  • On 21st January,1793 Louis-XVI was killed and soon after his wife was also.
  • No, this period of the assembly is (1793-1794) called the reign of terror.
  • Was the new assembly ruling good?
