  • The setting of the story is in the country side of England. The characters in the story are Mr. White , Mrs. White, Herbert, and Morris. Morris arrives at the White's home. Then, introduces the monkey's paw. He tells the story of everyone that wished on the paw.
  • Climax
  • I got an idea!
  • After Morris leaves, the Whites are faced with the decision to wish or not to wish. They now know that Morris told them that all of the people who have wished are now dead. The decision will change the Whites family forever.
  • Falling Action
  • Herbert!
  • Don't answer the door!
  • The White's grant their first wish, saying "I wish for two hundred pounds." Nothing happened, yet. Next day, Herbert goes off to work, and later that day a stranger comes to the door. The stranger tells of Herbert's death. Though, the stranger told them of their reward from the company of two hundred pounds. Afterthey realized that was the price to pay.
  • Resolution
  • Herbet?
  • After they heard of Herbert's death Mrs. White screams and faints to the floor in shock and sadness. Then for the next ten days Mr. And Mrs White mourned on Herbert's death. Then Mrs.White got an idea.
  • A week and half later, the White's wish for Herbert to return from the dead. Knocks were heard and Mrs. White ran to get it but Mr. White held her back.
  • In the end, Mr. And Mrs. White suggest that they are going to see Herbert again. The readers could assume that Mr. White wished for Herbert to disappear , not wanting Mrs. White to to see her son in a mangled state from the accident.
