Jason, along with Piper and Leo, begin their journey at Camp Half-Blood and then storm spirits attack which signifies them crossing the first threshold from the ordinary world to the world of immortals, demigods, and monsters. (Crossing the Threshold)
Before Jason departs for his journey, he speaks with Chiron who acts as his mentor because he is the eldest and the camp director. He is amazed that Jason is alive and tries to give him as much advice as he can. (mentor) Also, Jason is aided by helpers along his journey like his father, Zeus. (helper)
Jason encounters many tests, allies, and enemies on his quest. One test includes when he goes to Aeolus' ice palace and ends up fighting for his life which proves his bravery and worthiness of being a hero. (Challenge/Temptation)
One of the greatest challenges of Jason's quest, or his abyss, was when he faced Polyphyrion with his two friends. This was one of the most difficult struggles, but in the end he defeated this monster even though he had many near-death experiences. (Abyss/Ordeal)
Once Jason and his friends defeated Polyphyrion, they rescued Hera as well. They completed their quest and proved themselves worthy. Jason received safety, his friends, guidance from Hera, and his sister in return for his accomplishment. Jason was proved to be a hero after this experience and would later be needed in defeating Gaea once and for all. (Transformation/Reward)
As Hera transforms back into her godly form, Jason opens his eyes which he isn't supposed to do or he will die. However, he ended up living out of a miracle and a new part of him is born through his resurrection. He acquires the confidence and strength to continue through his next quest to defeat Gaea and bring order back to Olympus.
