Conflict-Greaser VS Socs
Oh my, oh no
Ponyboy feels that he is responsible for starting the fire and trapping the kids in the burning church. Ponyboy is brave because he goes into the church to save the kids even after he sees it on fire. This setting is important to him because this is where Johnny and him went after they killed Bob. He doesn't feel safe because they are trying to escape from the cops.
Ponyboy and the other Greasers constantly get into trouble with the Socs and get into fights. Ponyboy doesn't like to get beat up by the Socs all the time. This conflict changes once Ponyboy and Johnny walk Cherry and Marcia home they run into their Soc boyfriends. And later that night Bob and his friends beat up Johnny and try to make Ponyboy drown. That is what causes Jonny to kill Bob.
This setting is very important in the book because Johnny saves Ponyboy's life by killing Bob the Soc. This is also what causes Ponyboy and Johnny to run away to the church. Ponyboy and Johnny are both scared because they kill a living person. This impacts him because this what caused running away which turned into the fire which turned into people getting hurt from the fire.
