The next day at school, Maddy fell asleep while doing a really important lab.
Ellie - Maddy's competitor for highest percentage - was doing her lab beside Maddy and realized she looked exhausted and unfocused - which was unlike Maddy.
She decides to ask Maddy if anything's wrong.
Hey Maddy, are you OK? You don't seem like you lately.
Maddy confides in Ellie expecting to get the same responce as Ms. Steb and Jason.
Well.. Recently I've just been really stressed out because of all the work we have. Sometimes I get so anxious I feel like I can't breathe. But I'm sure it's nothing because that's what Ms. Steb and Jason say.
Ellie, however being in a similar position as Maddy realizes that what Maddy's feeling isn't normal.
Hmm... This definitely sounds serious. I know how overwhelming all the work is. It sounds like she might have anxiety. I NEED to do something to help.
So, the next day Ellie invited Maddy to the library so that they could help each other with their work.
And then, Ellie convinced Maddy that she needed to go to the counselors and talk to them about how she's feeling. She even comforted her while waiting.
