Storyboard Text

  • Symbolism
  • Imagery
  • Figure of Speech (Personification)
  • The whole poem symbolizes freedom. The Underground Railroad is because it lets the slaves be free.
  • Idiom
  • It says "His clothes are tattered, his feet are bare." This helps me visualize it because it shows how he looks. It describes how his clothes are and what he looks like. This shows he has had a rough journey.
  • Tone
  • "Many hand have guided these weary feet" this means people have helped him find his way to freedom.
  • Theme
  • The Underground Railroad here
  • "The Underground Railroad." This is not actually underground and it is not a railroad. It is a passage way for freedom. It was a system.
  • The tone is hopeful. It says "The weary slave seeks freedom through flight." The slave is hopeful to be free. He doesn't want to be a slave his whole life.
  • The theme or message is that it takes a lot of effort to be free. You cant just be free. You have to work for it. "Like we talked about, freedom's not bought with dust."
