  • The Supreme Court announced the decision that slaves didn't have the right for citizenship and the Compromise of 1820 is unconstitutional. This angered many of the antislavery group (North), while the south feel happy with the decisions.

  • You may stay here for food and I'll help you go down farther south.

  • In America especially in the south, many slaveholders have a lot of slaves. Those slaves are working in hard conditions without enough food and rights. Many of the family are separated. For the North, they are antislavery, but the South are proslavery. This created a controversy in the country about slavery.

  • Thank you my fellow citizens for voting for me.

  • The underground Railroad is a network of white abolitionists and free slaves who are trying to help the runaway slaves go farther down south where slavery is prohibited. This anger many of the southern slaveholders because their slaves are running away and the southerners are helping these slaves.
  • John Brown raids on harpers ferry
  • End the slavery! We want freedom for everyone!
  • Harriet Tubman is one of the most wanted slave conductors. She risked her life to help guide the runaway slaves to a safe place and later on go farther north. Many slaveholders were angry and they spent a lot of money for those who captured Harriet Tubman.
  • The election of Abraham Lincoln as a new president made the southerners worried about slavery because president Abraham Lincoln didn't support slavery. Therefor, many of the southerners were trying to subdue to the government's decisions.
  • John Brown led many of his supporters and raided on Harpers Ferry in hope that the African Americans will join him. Instead, his group was settled down by the militia and later on his group was killed by Colonel Robert E. Lee.
