  • Hannah Prays for a Son
  • PLEASE YHWH, GIVE ME A SON, AND IF YOU DO, I WILL DEDICATE HIM TO YOU
  • God gives Hannah a Son
  • HE WILL BE NAMED SAMUEL, BECAUSE I ASKED FOR HIM AND GOD HEARD ME.
  • God Calls Samuel
  • SAMUEL! SAMUEL!
  • Hannah is seen pouring her heart out to God. She is desperate to to have a son. She promises to dedicate him to God as a Nazarite priest. (Possible short introduction to this scene in which Penninah insults and taunts Hannah because of her fertility.)
  • Eli Instructs Samuel How to Recieve the Word of God
  • YOU'VE COME THREE TIMES, AND I DIDN'T CALL YOU AT ALL. HMM... I THINK I KNOW WHO IT IS. NEXT TIME, SAY...
  • Hannah's prayers are answered, and she gives birth to a son, Samuel. He is later given to Eli for him to become a priest.
  • Repentance and Salvation
  • I am the God of Abraham! Stop marching on my people!
  • Samuel thinks Eli is calling him, but it is actually God calling Samuel to deliver the message to Eli of his family's disastrous fate.
  • The People Demand a King
  • WE WANT A KING AND WE WANT ONE NOW!!
  • Samuel, if they want a king, give them one.
  • Samuel comes to Eli three times because he thinks he is calling him, but Eli tells Samuel that it is God talking to him and he should say, "Speak Lord, your servant is listening."
  • DID YOU CALL ME, RABBI ELI?
  • The Israelites go to Mizpah to pray and repent. When a Philistine army comes to attack the Isrealites, God comes to save them after Samuel makes a sacrifice.
  • Despite Samuel's attempts to dissuade the people and tell them of the evils of kings, the people want a king, just like the other nations. God makes Samuel give them a king to show them how it really is.
  • No! Kings are bad!
