Jocasta gives Oedipus to the shepherd to leave him on top of a mountain after hearing Apollo's prophecy about the child. Not killing the child, the sheperd gave him to a messenger.
The messenger delivers Oedipus to Polybus and Merope of Corinth. Later in life, Oedipus hears a drunk man state that he does not know his biological parents.He then goes off to ask Apollo for answers.
After speaking with Apollo, Oedipus heard horrible things and decided to flee from Corinth to protect his family from any harm. While traveling, Oedipus came to a crossroads where King Laius was also traveling on. The two men got into an argument and Oedipus killed everyone.
