England in the 1930s.
Oliver Twist, an orphan, lives in a workhouse. There, he causes some troubles, so they send him with Mr. Sowerberry, an undertaker. However, he has some problems at his home too.
Oliver decides to go to London to find a better life. There, he meets a thief called Artful Dodger and he goes with him to meet the chief of his gang, Fagin.
Come on follow me!
Oliver learns to pick handkerchiefs with Fagin and the other young thieves. On his first trip, he goes with other two boys to a bookshop and he is caught, even though he hasn't stolen anything.
Oliver is taken to a magistrate, but when all is cleared by the owner of the shop, the victim of the theft, Mr. Brownlow, takes the kid to his home. Oliver is introduced to a completely different life.
The burglar Bill Sykes and his mistress, Nancy, recapture Oliver. Sykes tells Fagin that the only way to make sure that Oliver doesn’t say anything is to kill him. Nancy informs Mr. Brownlow of that.
Sykes discovers what Nancy did and tries to escape with Oliver as a hostage, but he falls and hangs himself. Fagin is sentenced to death and Oliver is adopted by Mr. Brownlow.
