Storyboard Text

  • Hey Bob, what's the matter?
  • Hi Steve, I was just wondering, how does everything have form? and what's the particle theory of matter?
  • Well, first of all, all matter is made up of particles that are constantly moving. These particles can be in the form of solids, liquids, and gases.
  • Solid particles are bunched together, liquid particles are not as bunched up but still are close together, and gas particles are spread out and move freely.
  • Oh okay, but how do particles change form? like solids to liquids and etc.?
  • Well, there is an explanation to that according to the particle theory of matter.
  •  Ohh! please tell me more.
  • Alright then, when particles are heated they start moving faster and spread out further. When  particles cool down they slow down and bunch together.
  • Ohhhhhh
  • Lets use ice as an example, when ice is heated it melts into water, this is the particles starting to move faster and spreading out more, and vice versa.
  • Whoa!, it all makes sense to me now.
  • Alright, I will and thanks for your help today Steve. Bye.
  • Oh, and one more thing, remember that particles attract each other.
