- What did I do wrong.
- Huh
- Jonas has been selected.
- Jonas has been selected to be our next receiver of memory
- Jonas is extremely scared about what is going to happen to him since the chief elder skipped his name. This is usually a sign of failure which could mean that the rest of his life would be filled with shame and embarrassment.
- The selection must be sound.
- The chief elder then told Jonas that he has been selected. At that moment, Jonas was confused about what that had meant for him.
- He has shown all of the qualities that a receiver must have.
- The chief elder tells him that he is the new Receiver of Memory. She said to him that it was the honorable job in the community.
- And maybe it's beyond.
- The chief elder then continues talking about how he was chosen to be the receiver. She says that the selection must be perfect as the choice cannot be undone.
- The chief elder talks about all of the requirements needed to be the receiver. Examples of this would be intelligence, integrity, courage, the ability to acquire wisdom, and the ability to look beyond.
- At first Jonas didn't believe that he was supposed to be the receiver and that he had some special ability to look beyond. However, then he looks at the audience and sees that they change in some form. Then he realizes that just maybe he is supposed to be the receiver and that he has the ability to look beyond.
