In a village in Japan, long ago, lived a young farmer named Taro. He lived with his grandmother. The village grew everything they needed. They were self sufficient.
One year there were no rains, causing drought in country leaving very less food supplies. The village headman taught the young to be more important to the village and decided to call a village meeting.
The old must go to the mountains only the young should be in the village
I cannot let my grandmother go to the mountains, I will hide her here with me
If grandmother can solve them, then perhaps the headman will let her stay with me.
Few weeks later the headman put up a notice for every one to read. It was from the warlord of another village who threatened to take away half the land in Taro's village unless the answers to three riddles were found, and he promised to give the villagers all the food they needed.
Taro asked his grandmother the three riddles. She answered them.
Grandmother if you solve these three riddles, then perhaps you would not neet to hide.
Taro exited, quickly ran and told the headman the answers. Taro told the headman that it was his dear old grandmother who gave in the answers.
The headman realised his mistake and ordered to bring back all the old people back to the village. Soon rain fell and crops grew. The villagers lived happy and prosperous life, thanks to Taro's wise old grandmother
