HIV in Washington DC has been a significant problem among citizens. It was found that 3% of people over the age of 12 in DC have HIV, and about half of those people are actually unaware of it.
In race, black people hold 6.5% of the infections, hispanics hold 1.9% of infections, and white people hold 1.4% of the infections.
One surprising fact that I learned was that HIV has risen by 22% since 2006.
The leading cause of His is unprotected sex, this can be solutionized if people used condoms more. You can always buy them at a local store.
The second leading cause is from people using needles more than once.
In 2007 there was a whopping 127 cases per 100,000 people in the city
My solutions would be to first make sure kids in schools are properly taught about HIV to prevent it in the future.
My second solution would bring me back to the information of condoms, my idea is to lower the price so everyone can afford condoms for protected sex.
