In the beginning of The Great Gatsby Nick Carraway, the narrator is introduced and begins to introduce the characters.One character which no one seemed to know much about rather than the rumors said about him was Gatsby. That night Nick saw who believed to be Gatsby reaching his hand towards a green light.
In the second chapter, Nick explains the Valley of Ashes and how the eyes of Dr. Eckleberg look down on the people who live there, then comes to believe that Daisy Buchanan his cousin may know this great Gatsby that everyone speaks of.
Nick Carraway receives an invitation to Gatsby's party and found it to be strange since he was told by Jordan Baker a good friend of Daisy's that no one is ever invited to these parties people just come. Turns out that Gatsby had invited Nick personally and as Nick roamed through the party he finally gets to meet the great Gatsby.
Nick attends another one of Gatsby's party and discusses a man named Klipspringer who is also known as the "border" because he never leaves Gatsby's house.
Gatsby meets Daisy for the first time and wanted to show her how much he has changed over the past five years by throwing all these different kind of shirts so that Daisy realizes how he has all this money now.
Gatsby discusses how he earned all his new money and his mentor Dan Cody who saw more in Gatsby and believed he could accomplish more.
