Storyboard Text

  • Hey! What are you doing here at the remodeling site? This is only for the cool pre-osteoclasts.
  • Activation: (Both pre-osteoclasts start fighting)
  • Pre-osteoclasts are attracted to increased remodeling sites.
  • Resorption: Osterclasts burrow a tunnel in compact bone and calcium is released into blood. Osteoclasts disappear.
  • Oh no! The cops are coming we have to dig a tunnel and hide.
  • Too much activity makes burrow or pit deeper.
  • Reversal: Mesenchymal appear along the burrow dug and they proliferate and differentiate into pre-osteoblasts.
  • Formation: Pre-osteoblasts mature into osteoblasts at the surface of the burrow. (decreased osteoblast activity)
  • Normal osteoblast activity.
  • -they release osteoid at the site forming a new, soft nonmineralized matrix. The new matrix is mineralized with calcium and phospherous.
  • Quiescence: site, with resting lining cells, remains dormant until next cycle.
