  • In the short story, "The Cask of the Amontillido" By: Edgar Allen Poe, the main characters are Fortuanto and Montresor. Montresors goal is to kill Fortuanto because he broke Fortuantos motto.

  • Montresors revenge was justified.

  • Montresors revenge was justified because Fortuanto made montresor mad. Fortunato deserved punishment.

  • In the short story it states, "No one insults me without punishment" (Poe,31)
  • Fortuanto has insulted Montresor over a bunch of time periods. Montresor said that he deserved a punishment. His motto was you cant insult me without getting punishment. That is why he said that quote. Fortuantos punishment was being murdered.
  • The killing of Fortuanto was Montresors punishment towards him. This shows that Montresors revenge was justified.
