Storyboard Text

  • February 19, 1864
  • Thanks of Congress
  • I received this one for the Chattanooga Campaign. 1 year later, it was given for the Atlanta Campaign and Sherman's March to the Sea.
  • Now I will give William Tecumseh Sherman the Thanks of Congress
  • We approve of your plan!
  • I proposed my plan about marching to Ulysses S. Grant & Abraham Lincoln. Lincoln opposed but both approved.
  • December 21, 1864
  • November 15, 1864
  • I led 60,000 soldiers on a march to Atlanta to Savannah, Georgia. I wanted to live off the land.
  • Destroy everything!
  • I decided to ruin industries that helped the Confederate Army.
  • We must spread out into groups!
  • Spreading out helped destroy more property, give soldiers more area to get food and supplies, and confuse the Confederate Army.
  • I surrender!
  • Once we arrived in Savannah, the major surrendered with little fight.
