Conflict: Saving the Princess
"If I stand by the head of the sick man, thou mayst say with confidence that thou wilt make him well again, and if thou givest him of this herb he will recover; but if I stand by the patient’s feet, he is mine..." The protagonist in Godfather Death is Death's godson, the physician. Death will make him rich by making him the best physician in the world but he has to do Death's work. If he goes against Death he will create an issue.
"But beware of using the herb against my will, or it might fare ill with thee.” The antagonist in Godfather Death is Death himself. He has his godson, the physician, do his work either saving or killing off people. If the physician still uses the herb to save the person the physician will have a problem.
"...he caused it to be made known that whosoever rescued her from death should be her husband and inherit the crown. When the physician came to the sick girl’s bed, he saw Death by her feet." The main conflict in this story is that the physician wants to save the princess in order to become king and become even more rich. The physician has already betrayed Death once and doing it again could result in a punishment.
