ENGLISH ARE COMING!
When Paul Revere was a teenager, his father died. Paul took over his silversmithing job. Paul made things like cups, spoons, and bracelets.
Paul Revere joined a club called the Sons of Liberty, and he also became the leader in it. On December 16, 1773, they had enough of the taxes so they dressed up as Indians, marched onto a ship filled with crates of tea. They had brought axes with them so they used them to break open the crates, and dumped the tea into the Boston Harbor.
Paul had to ride to New York and Philadelphia to spread the news about the English coming. He came back on the llth day.
At about 10 o'clock on Tuesday night, April 18, Paul was sent to get across the Charles River. He went to alarm the citizens to arm themselves. He also brought two friends to help him get across the river. He had a horse waiting for him.
After Paul got across the river he rode his horse to Lexington. Suddenly, two English officers came out of nowhere and started chasing Paul. One of them got stuck mud, and the other gave up the chase. Then suddenly, six other officers sprang out and chased Paul. Paul did not stop. Paul got surrounded, and one of the officers questioned him.
Paul went back to Lexington to see if John Hancock and Samuel Adams were there, and they were. They were leaving town in John Hancock's carriage. They rode two miles into the countryside, but suddenly John realized that he forgot a trunk full of important papers. He didn't want anyone to find it. They went back to go get it.
