Storyboard Text

  • That's an odd way to start a conversation, but as a matter a fact I do know about graphite.
  • Hey Mr.Miyagi, do you know anything about graphite?
  • Well, for starters it's in the "Native element" family of minerals and is one of the softest minerals out there.
  • Thanks, so what do I need to know about Graphite?
  • It has a non-mentalic dull shine, so it doesn't reflect much light and when you break it it'll be smooth, which is called cleavage.
  • What does it look like?
  • If you wrote it down with a pencil you'd be using graphite and the pencil marks you'd be seeing is actually called streak which is dark grey, like a pencil mark.
  • Should I be writing all this down?
  • Minerals are everywhere and we use them for a ton of things.
  • Wow, I never knew that minerals were that useful.
  • Well I've got to run, but before I go I've got one of fun fact about graphite, it's made from the exact same elements as diamond but is the polar oppisite of diamond physically.
  • Now I know all about graphite, thanks.
