  • in this step Aibileen and skeeter find out the publisher for Skeeters book has made a deadline to have the book finished by. by the deadline being given it makes the publishing of the book seem realistic and gives further encouragement to Aibileen and Skeeter ti achieve this. "i gasp, she telling me to write it! she's telling me...'are you saying you'll publish it? if i can write it by-'" Page 185
  • The Road Back
  • In this step Yule May is arrested for stealing a ruby from Miss. Hilly, and a group of maids join at Aibileen's house for a prayer. where many maids decide to join Skeeter with the book. "'i am too, Miss. Skeeter. i'm on to help you.' a woman in a red coat walk by quickly, doesn't even meet my eyes. after the next one i start count five. six. seven...' 'eight, nine, ten, eleven" page 297 
  • Atonement
  • What?!! that book is about Jackson!!
  • In this step Aibileen can now foresee the book being published and the new wrold it might bring, so she strives to get it done. "Aibileen smiles at the stack of pages on her kitchen table...' 'look at that' she says 'that things almost a book'" page 327
  • The Return
  • Ahh it's good to be back with Mae Mobely
  • In this step Skeeter has finally finished the book and has been sent into the publisher and will be published. despite the deadline being so close the characters have officially committed to the challenge and the possible effects of the book. page 430 " I put the manuscript down on the table with a thump. 'if I mail it in the morning, that still leaves six days for it to get there. we might just make it,' I smile through my exhaustion"
  • Ahh finally done
  • In this step this is when Miss. Hilly finds out that the book is about Jackson and she then goes around telling everyone to fire their maids; just what Minnie and Aibileen were afraid would happen. "one-arm Ernestine call and say Miss. Hilly's talking all over town about who's in the book. she telling white ladies to fire they maids and she ain't even guessing the right ones." page 484
  • In this step this is when Aibileen and all the maids that helped/are helping Skeeter with the book return home and back to their normal lives. right after the book was published there was rumors going around that is was about the maids in Jackson Mississippi but no on e every figured out where the book truly takes place.
