After going through the Juvenile Court and the Appellate Court, the case was taken up to the Supreme Court.
New Jersey School System
TLO believed that the school's actions violated the 4th amendment of the constitution. The New Jersey School District believed they had a valid reason as to why her rights were diminished.
It was decided that the school did not go against any amendments.
The reason why the majority supported the school system was that it was on a school property and some of your rights are diminished there.
This case was important because this was the case that set the tone for all schools in the future.
