Paul, a high school student, gets suspended for a week of school and tries to apologize for the petty action he did to get kicked out. His teachers and principaldiscuss his behavior, but his drawing-master says that his mother died when he was little. The instructor states, "There is something wrong about the fellow."
Paul's real passion is working as an usher at Carnegie Hall. He loves to listen to the music, and imagines his life in the theater and living wealthy. He does not understand school and lives in his own world when he is at the theater.
Paul did not live a wealthy life, but lied about this to his classmates. Paul's principal wanted to discuss his son's actions in school, but his father pulled him out of school. He banned Paul from going to the theater and got him a job at Denny and Carson's office.
